Is this what we voted for? Yes, thats the Obama admin for you.

According to this list, First Lady Bush had a staff of at least 14, not counting any White House social secretaries.

    You better recount/add.

      I am re-checking the stats.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

After her husband ran this country into the ground and started two
wars I really don’t care who spent what. Compared to the cost of
Bush’s wars this is a spit in the wind.

  4. CodpieceWatch, 5 years ago

Perhaps you should take a look at the following list. You’ll see that there are 15 paid staff of Laura Bush’s, totaling $1,077,900, NOT 764,900 like you said: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/opinions/graphics/2008stafflistsalary.html

And another thing? That was really sneaky using years-old salaries for Laura’s staff.

I hope you’ll print a correction of your “investigation.”

I assure you I did not find the Washington Post list when I did the research. Your unfortunate attitude is a true reflection of the kind of
dialogue that takes place on the web.
I will of course check out the list you forwarded and change the statistics if what you say is true.
You might keep in mind that Michelle Obama has been in the White House for 6 months, the report I found may have been slightly older but not enough to have elicited kind of response…

You fail to mention the most important point which is, not so much the size of the staff, but the fact that it was Michelle Obama who stated that Americans must “sacrifice” and “give up a piece of their pie”. The reality is she eats all her pie. Every slice of it. And has given up none.

  6. Steve Nance, 5 years ago

Recount the list that you posted; Ms. Obama has 22 on her staff.

And, I thought I had no life. SMDH!

Costs a lot of money to put lipstick on a pig…

  9. TattooedConservative, 5 years ago

Gary C – You do realize that the cost of the Iraq war is not even half of the current admins budget, not including the failed stimulus, and his increased war efforts in Afghan? Or what about the $1.7 TRILLION healtcare bill he is trying to pass? The $3 billion of tax payer money to assist in buying new cars that in months will start a repo of cars just like the houses people could not afford but Libs help them get…
I would take the prior administration 10 fold over the current!
    2010/2012 – Conservatisim is back!

  10. Jennifer, 5 years ago

Hmmm, I quickly counted…Laura Bush had 22 -23 staff members,
Michele Obama has 16. She seems to be more efficient than her predecessor.

  11. TattooedConservative, 5 years ago

    Jennifer -
More efficient to the tune of almost $500k. Sounds to me like Mrs. B was more effiecient in her ability to create 7 more jobs at the same time saving us almost half a million dollars compared to Mrs. Obama.

Above is a list of George W. Bush White House staff:

Here are the fifteen of them with ‘first lady’ in the actual job title:

McBride, Anita B. Assistant to the president and chief of staff to the first lady
Harder, Cherie S. Special assistant to the president for domestic policy and director of project of the first lady
Niemiec, Sally M. Press secretary to the First Lady
Miller, Sonja M. Deputy chief of staff to the first lady
Ballard, Deanna M. Director of scheduling for the First Lady
Underwood, Carrie P. Deputy director of policy and projects for the First Lady
Wallace, Charity N. Director of advance for the First Lady
Marshall, Misty C. Director of correspondence for the first lady
Etter, Marisa L. Deputy director of scheduling for the First Lady
King, Kristin N. Deputy director of advance for the first lady
Lineweaver, Lindsey Special assistant and personal aide to the first lady
Rawson, Kimberly D. Executive assistant to the chief of staff to the First Lady
Donoghue, Tarah C. Deputy press secretary to the First Lady
Vogel, Campbell B. Deputy director of correspondence for the First Lady
Block, Jonathan F. Assistant press secretary to the First Lady

What a surprise! There were fifteen staff White House staff members with ‘first lady’ in their job title under Laura Bush – just like under Michelle Obama!!!

Who cares who has the biggest numbers!!! Forget it! The bottom line is, government is a big fat pig and sucking us dry with all this nonsense. I don’t care which first lady had the most of what, it’s ridiculous no matter how you look at it. The government is on steroids and Obama isn’t CHANGing anything. Same old same old.

Miller, Sonja M. Deputy chief of staff to the first lady $84,700.00

    And this is listed twice.

Man! you guys have to twist every story. It seems we are coming out of the recession but it will take a while to correct all the mismanagerment that happened under a republican administration.

  20. DarceyNowak, 4 years ago

I got a total of $1,162,400 from the Washington Post July 24, 2008 article when I added the salaries. I pasted the information into Excell and deleted all but the First Lady’s staff.
