CLUB FOR GROWTH to Sen. Lugar: Go Home – Wash Wire – WSJ

The conservative Club for Growth has thrown its backing behind the GOP rival of Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, one of the Senate’s longest-serving Republicans.  Mr. Lugar is now caught in a tough primary fight with tea-party favorite Richard Mourdock, the Indiana state treasurer.

The influential Club for Growth, which has chapters all over the country, dings Mr. Lugar for his support for earmarks.  “There are very few Republicans left who still support earmarks,” the group’s president, former Indiana Rep. Chris Chocola, wrote in endorsing Mr. Mourdock. “Regrettably, one of the remaining few is 35-year Indiana senator Richard Lugar. He continues to stand in favor of earmarks to this day.”

“It’s time for him to come back home to Indiana. It’s time to move Washington in a more fiscally conservative direction.”
