Former professional-wrestling executive Linda McMahon will get another crack at a U.S. Senate seat after she coasted to victory over former Rep. Christopher Shays in the Republican primary in Connecticut.
Ms. McMahon had 74% of the vote, to 26% for Mr. Shays, with 86% of precincts reporting.
In the general election, Ms. McMahon will face Democratic Rep. Christopher Murphy, who won his Senate primary over former Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz. Mr. Murphy leads the Republican candidate in polls for the November matchup.
The two will be competing for the seat of Sen. Joseph Lieberman, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, who is retiring.
