ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Mitt Romney tore into the Obama campaign Thursday saying the president and his allies “fail to grasp the seriousness” of recent attacks in Libya.
On Thursday, Stephanie Cutter, deputy campaign manager for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, blamed Mr. Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, for politicizing the attacks on the U.S. consulate and an annex in Benghazi that left four Americans dead, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya.
“The entire reason that this has become the, you know, political topic it is, is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan,” Ms. Cutter said on CNN. “It’s a big part of their stump speech, and it’s reckless and irresponsible what they’re doing.”
Mr. Romney fired back from the campaign trail in North Carolina, quoting Ms. Cutter and saying: “Today we got another indication of how President Obama and his campaign fail to grasp the seriousness of the challenges that we face here in America.”
